According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the assault occurred around 11:30 p.m. on November 4, when the 35-year-old victim was retrieving clothing from a dumpster. Investigators say Xavier Martinez, born January 4, 2005, pepper-sprayed the victim while Jace Fields, born September 25, 1998, recorded the attack and urged him on before the two fled the scene.

Fields later uploaded the footage to his Instagram account. The video was then shared by Grizzy’s Hood News to help identify the suspects, drawing widespread attention after it went viral.

Both men were charged with Class A assault and apprehended by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Persons Task Force before being booked into the Harris County Jail.

Court records reveal that each suspect has since posted $100 bond.
