Motorcyclist killed after crashing into stolen backhoe on SH 249

HOUSTON, TX – A motorcyclist was pronounced deceased after a two-vehicle failure to stop and render aid crash on State Highway 249 near the Greens Road entry ramp.

Around 1:15 a.m., a motorcycle traveling along the southbound lanes struck the rear of a backhoe excavator. The backhoe is suspected to have been stolen or lifted from a nearby construction site.

After the collision, the backhoe continued into a grassy area where it was abandoned. The suspect operating the backhoe fled the scene and remains at large.

Investigators said the motorcycle driver died at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
