HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating a shooting that left two men deceased at The Gael Apartments in the 4000 block of Essex.
According to police, officers responded around 10 a.m. and found one adult male shot several times and pronounced deceased at the scene. A second male, also shot several times, was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Police said a male was inside his apartment when three males arrived, used a large piece of concrete to break down the front door, and confronted him. The occupant was able to obtain a handgun and fire several rounds, striking two of the intruders. A third suspect fled on foot and left in a dark-colored SUV.
Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and possibly a narcotics rip-off involving marijuana and THC. A large amount of narcotics was found inside the apartment. Homicide and narcotics investigators are conducting the investigation. The occupant of the apartment is detained and speaking with police.
