HOUSTON, TX – A man was fatally shot by police after reportedly pointing a firearm at a woman in the parking lot of a southeast Houston apartment complex.
The incident occurred around 1:41 a.m. when a woman inside her residence heard a noise and believed her parked vehicle outside had been hit. When she went outside to inspect it, she observed a man standing near her vehicle, pointing a gun at her. She retreated inside and called police.
According to the Houston Police Department, responding officers located a tan Suburban with its flashers on near the complex entrance. Officers gave verbal commands to the driver, and three officers discharged their weapons, striking the man. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was reportedly still inside the vehicle when officers arrived. Multiple firearms were found inside the vehicle, though investigators have not confirmed which belonged to the suspect. It is unclear whether an actual crash occurred, as no damage was immediately visible on the woman’s vehicle.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office, HPD’s Special Investigations Unit, and Internal Affairs are investigating. The officers involved, each with just over two years on the force, have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
