Man fatally struck by car in dark stretch of Clay Road near Addicks Reservoir

HOUSTON, TX – A man was fatally struck by a car late Sunday night in the 17000 block of Clay Road near North Eldridge Parkway, according to the Houston Police Department.

The crash occurred in the Addicks Reservoir area, a heavily wooded region with no lighting, sidewalks, or crosswalks. Police said a black Honda sedan was traveling westbound when a man, believed to be homeless and wearing dark clothing, attempted to cross the road toward the median and was hit.

The driver immediately stopped, exited the vehicle, and began CPR on the victim until officers arrived. Houston police officers continued life-saving efforts until EMS arrived, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the pedestrian has not been confirmed. Police said it is unclear why he was walking in the area, as there are no nearby residences or pedestrian pathways. The medical examiner is working to identify the man.

No charges are expected against the driver, who remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Police noted there was no indication the driver was speeding or impaired.

This is a developing story and more information will follow if it becomes available.
