Man shot outside Chevron gas station after dispute over stolen TV

HOUSTON, TX – A man was shot outside a Chevron gas station in the 5400 block of the East Freeway following an argument over a stolen television, according to Houston Police.

Officers with the Northeast Patrol Division were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. and arrived to find an adult male with gunshot wounds to the leg and lower back. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition and was undergoing surgery.

Investigators said the shooter and the victim knew each other and had previously lived together. The victim had allegedly taken a television and other property from the shooter’s home. The shooter reportedly located the man at the Chevron, where an argument escalated into a physical altercation.

The shooter told police he was in fear for his safety during the struggle and fired his weapon. He remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time, pending a review by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

The case is being investigated by the Houston Police Department’s Major Assaults Division.
