HOUSTON, TX – A man was killed just before midnight Monday after a tow truck crashed into his stalled vehicle in the 2500 block of the Katy Freeway.
The incident occurred in the westbound lanes, where the man’s Toyota Corolla had reportedly broken down in a moving lane of traffic with its hazard lights activated. A tow truck, en route to another call farther west, struck the stalled vehicle from behind.
CPR was attempted before HFD arrived, but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The tow truck driver and a passenger remained on scene. Police said the driver showed no signs of impairment. Investigators are reviewing speed and other possible contributing factors and will consult with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues.
This is a developing story and more information will follow if it becomes available.
