Motorcyclist dies in crash with pickup truck on Northwest Freeway service road

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Tuesday on the westbound service road of the 28500 block of Northwest Freeway.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division, a pickup truck was stopped in the number 3 lane facing west when a Honda CRF-50 motorcycle, operated by an unidentified adult male, was unlawfully passing to the right of stopped traffic in the same lane.

As traffic began to move, the pickup began traveling west and initiated a right turn into a private driveway. The motorcycle attempted to pass on the right, lost control, and fell onto its side. It slid and struck the right side and undercarriage of the pickup. The rider detached from the motorcycle prior to impact and continued sliding before striking the underside of the truck.

The pickup continued approximately 26 feet into the private driveway before coming to a stop. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the pickup remained on scene and showed no signs of intoxication.

The crash remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division.
