Richmond search ends after second suspect taken into custody by SWAT

RICHMOND, TX – A multi-location shooting investigation led to a SWAT deployment early Friday morning after gunfire was directed at a Richmond Police officer during a pursuit involving two suspects.

At approximately 1 a.m. on January 30, 2026, Richmond Police received a 911 call for shots fired at a house in the 1900 block of Fiesta Lane. A second call followed shortly after reporting gunfire at a residence in the 1600 block of Carver.

While responding to the Carver location, an officer observed a man matching the suspect description running along Maiden Lane. As the officer detained the individual—identified as 44-year-old Alexander McMillon—another subject began firing gunshots in the officer’s direction.

The second suspect, identified as 38-year-old Elridge Strauss, fled to the 300 block of Rochelle Street, where he attempted to hide inside a residence. The Fort Bend County East Side SWAT team was called to assist. After several hours of negotiation, Strauss was located and apprehended in the backyard of a nearby home on Collins Street.

No injuries were reported at any of the involved locations.

Both men were transported to the Fort Bend County Jail. Strauss faces three counts of assault family violence with previous convictions (3rd-degree felonies), unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (3rd-degree felony), and three counts of deadly conduct (Class A misdemeanors). McMillon is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (3rd-degree felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
