HOUSTON, TX – Two juveniles were shot after suspects in a white Nissan approached a group of teens playing basketball at Zollie Scales Park in southeast Houston and allegedly attempted to sell marijuana.
Around 6:30 p.m., officers with the Houston Police Department responded to the park after receiving reports of a shooting. Witnesses stated that two to three Black males, believed to be in their 20s to 30s, arrived at the park in a white Nissan and approached a group of juveniles playing basketball.
The suspects allegedly asked if anyone wanted to buy marijuana. A 17-year-old male and a 14-year-old male approached the vehicle. At some point during the interaction, the suspects fired multiple shots, striking the 14-year-old in the leg and the 17-year-old in the hand.
Both juveniles were transported to local hospitals by Houston Police Department officers and are reported to be in stable condition.
Police recovered what appeared to be a large bag of marijuana and several smaller bags at the scene. Investigators are still determining the exact contents of the items collected as evidence.
Witnesses remained at the park and provided statements to officers. The suspects have not been taken into custody.
