Man shot and killed at apartment complex; second male dropped off at clinic with gunshot wound

HOUSTON, TX – A man was shot and killed at an apartment complex in southwest Houston, and a second male was dropped off at a nearby emergency clinic with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Police said officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Country Place just before 8 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting with a male down in a courtyard area of the apartments.

When officers and the Houston Fire Department arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot at least one time. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Narcotics were found next to him, and police believe this shooting may have been some type of narcotics deal gone wrong, but investigators are working to determine exactly what happened.

While officers were working the scene, police received information that a black car pulled up to a nearby walk-up emergency clinic and dropped off a male who had been shot once in the arm before leaving the area.

The wounded male was transported to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. Police said he is being detained as investigators work to determine his involvement in the shooting. Initially, the male told clinic staff he had been shot at a different location, but police said they do not believe that information is accurate.

Homicide investigators are responding to the scene and will review surveillance video and speak with witnesses to determine what led up to the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
