HOUSTON, TX – A female pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash after a driver ran a red light and fled the scene in southwest Houston.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Gessner and Beechnut. According to the Houston Police Department Vehicle Crimes Division, a silver pickup truck crossed the intersection against what appeared to be a red light, struck an adult female who was crossing the roadway, and then fled the scene.
Police said the suspect vehicle also struck another vehicle while leaving the intersection. The occupants of that vehicle were not directly involved in the initial crash but were hit as the suspect fled.
Investigators are searching for a silver pickup truck that may have bumper and front-end damage consistent with striking a pedestrian and another vehicle.
The identity of the woman who was struck has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
