Overnight storms cause roadway headaches across Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Heavy rain overnight caused several problems across Houston roadways, leaving stalled vehicles, high water, and a fallen tree blocking traffic in multiple locations.

In the Memorial Villages area, a large tree fell and blocked the southbound lanes of Voss while also damaging a nearby wall. The Villages Fire Department began working to remove the tree and clear the roadway.

During another round of storms, several vehicles stalled in high water on the North Freeway entrance ramp from St. Joseph as drivers attempted to cross the flooded area.

High water also caused problems along the South Freeway near Calumet, where several vehicles stalled in the northbound lanes. Across the freeway on the southbound side near the same area, a crash occurred where high water was also reported. Airbags deployed in the crash, but everyone involved is believed to be okay.
