HOUSTON, TX – A man was struck and killed by a train along railroad tracks in northeast Houston.
The incident occurred around 12:58 a.m. near the 11300 block of Hirsch Road. Officers responded to a train fatality call involving a pedestrian on railroad tracks that run parallel to Hirsch Road.
The victim is an adult male who appeared to be possibly around 40 years old, maybe late 30s. His identity is unknown at this time.
The train, identified as Union Pacific 3848, was traveling southbound when the conductor said they saw something come out of nowhere and felt like they hit something.
The train stopped and the crew went back to check, initially unsure if it was an animal or something else before locating the body on the tracks.
It is unknown at this time if the male was sleeping on the tracks or walking on the tracks when he was struck.
Investigators will determine exactly what occurred.
