Man killed, another wounded after suspect refuses to leave and opens fire at Scottish Inns and Suites on Antoine

HOUSTON, TX – A man was killed and another wounded after a shooting outside a motel in northwest Houston late last night.

The shooting occurred around 10:45 p.m. in the 3300 block of Antoine at the Scottish Inns and Suites.

According to police, one male described as being in his early 60s was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second male, described as being in his mid-30s, was shot in the rear end and left in a private vehicle to a hospital, where he is expected to be okay.

Police say the suspect was initially leaning against a hotel room door and refused to leave when confronted by an elderly man who had rented the room. Approximately five to six people gathered and attempted to get the suspect to leave the doorway.

The suspect became agitated, walked away, then turned and fired multiple shots toward the group. The deceased male was struck during the shooting and went down.

Another individual from the group reportedly fired back at the suspect and then left the scene. Officers are still attempting to locate that individual.

The suspect was later located near Hammerly and Hollister wearing clothing matching the description. Police say he fled on foot after being spotted outside a convenience store and ran into a nearby apartment complex before being located by officers and a K-9 unit.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is being questioned.

Police said the deceased male was known to frequent the location, but it is unknown if he knew the suspect.
