Dr. Matthews calls judge “Karen of Harris County judges” after he yells at IT staffer

HOUSTON, TX – Dr. Candice Matthews made remarks following a courtroom exchange involving Judge Nathan Milliron and an information technology staff member assisting with audio equipment.

During the exchange, the staff member appeared to reference a “false alarm” or “false negative” while addressing an audio issue. The judge responded by telling the individual not to joke, stating he was serious about the situation. As the interaction continued, the judge told the staff member to leave the courtroom and requested a supervisor, adding he was “sick and tired of this” conduct.

Following the incident, Dr. Matthews said she had previously filed a judicial complaint against the judge with the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct. She stated the complaint, submitted in August 2025, included a sworn affidavit and supporting evidence.

According to Dr. Matthews, the complaint alleges multiple violations of the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct, including what she described as a pattern of unprofessional and hostile behavior, as well as improper conduct involving court staff.

Dr. Matthews said the complaint requested a full investigation and potential disciplinary action, including removal from office. She stated the matter remains under investigation.

Dr. Matthews also stated, “And this is what happens when the SCJC do not take action when you got direct evidence of this guy with this behavior,” and referred to the judge as “the Karen of Harris County judges.”

No official findings or disciplinary actions related to the complaint were included in her statement.
