Woman killed in hit-and-run crash at Westheimer and Eldridge in westside Houston, driver detained

HOUSTON, TX – A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash at an intersection in west Houston.

The crash occurred around 9:18 p.m. at Westheimer and Eldridge. According to police, a pedestrian walking northbound, possibly in a crosswalk, was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound.

The driver initially stopped but was later seen leaving the scene, resulting in a failed to stop and render aid case.

Westside Patrol officers later located the suspect vehicle and detained a person of interest, described as a man in his 20s driving a gray Honda Civic, and returned him to the scene.

The pedestrian, described as a white female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her age has not been confirmed.

The case will be referred to hit-and-run investigators. Police are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and additional information.
