Shooting leaves one dead, another critically injured in southwest Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A young male was killed and another was critically injured following a shooting in southwest Houston.

The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Gessner.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting call and arrived to find a young adult male, believed to be between 17 and 19 years old, with a gunshot wound to the upper extremities. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A second male was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is believed to be in critical condition.

Multiple young adult males and females were present at the scene and are being questioned.

Police said the group was gathered at a venue rented out to the individuals. The storefront does not have a name. An altercation occurred before shots were fired, resulting in one deceased individual and one critically injured.
