HOUSTON — A man in his early 20s was taken into custody Tuesday night after police said he robbed people at knifepoint following a parking lot crash.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Oct. 13, the man took a vehicle from where he lived and crashed into another vehicle in a parking lot in the 6200 block of Nordling. He got out bleeding from a cut to his stomach, police said.
When people approached to check on him, he robbed them at knifepoint and took their vehicle, according to police.
He drove around for a little over 40 minutes before officers located the stolen vehicle near the 100 block of Keel Street just before 10 p.m.
Officers conducted a felony stop, but the suspect resisted and tried to flee. Officers used a Taser and took him into custody.
Officers obtained immediate medical attention, and he was transported to a hospital, where he was stable.
Police said the man made comments in the ambulance indicating he had stabbed himself. Officers also found blood inside his home. Investigators believe the wound was self-inflicted but are continuing to investigate.
No one else was injured. Police do not believe the suspect knew the people he robbed.
