HPD patrol vehicle catches fire after crash on East Navigation

HOUSTON, TX – A Houston Police Department officer sustained minor injuries after a crash caused his patrol vehicle to catch fire early Sunday morning in the 1100 block of East Navigation Boulevard.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. while the officer was traveling northbound to a Code 2 call. According to police, the officer overcorrected and crashed into a construction site, which caused the vehicle to catch fire. The officer was able to get out safely, sustaining only a minor injury to his right wrist.

No other vehicles were involved, and there were no passengers in the officer’s vehicle. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
