HOUSTON, TX – Houston firefighters responded to a commercial building fire at Social Junkie Sports Bar + Kitchen in Washington Heights area Wednesday evening.

The fire occurred at 2412 Washington Ave. around 7:46 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the building and initiated an attack while conducting a primary search. Fans were used to ventilate the smoke from the structure.
Crews contained the fire to a storage room wall, preventing extension to the main bar area or second floor. No injuries were reported. The fire caused an estimated $32,000 in damage, while $568,000 in property was saved. The cause was determined to be unintentional due to abandoned or discarded materials or products.
A total of 41 personnel responded to the incident, including firefighters from Stations 15, 6, 8, 9, 30, Heavy Rescue 11, and Rescue 1.
