HOUSTON, TX – Four people were injured during a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning in front of Social Empire in southeast Houston.
According to the Houston Police Department, preliminary details suggest an SUV-type vehicle drove past the location heading eastbound toward the freeway before turning around and opening fire toward a crowd outside the building.
Roughly 15 to 20 individuals were gathered outside at the time, with more people reportedly inside the venue. Two individuals were struck and transported to area hospitals in critical to stable condition. Two others sustained graze wounds and self-transported to local hospitals.
Police said the four victims consisted of three males and one female, with ages estimated between 18 and 40 years old.
Investigators are working to determine whether the business was operating as an unauthorized after-hours club. Surveillance footage had not been obtained as of the time of the investigation, as the owner of the business had not yet been contacted.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown. No suspect description has been released.
