Man shot by police after firing gunshots in Sugar Land neighborhood

SUGAR LAND, TX – According to the Sugar Land Police Department, officers shot a man who was reportedly firing gunshots into the ground in a neighborhood near Greatwood Lake and Forestlake Drive.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m., when police responded to calls about gunfire in the area. Three officers arrived and encountered the man, described as being in his late twenties or early thirties.

According to Sugar Land Police Chief Pete Lara, a confrontation took place between the man and officers, leading to the shooting. The man was transported to a hospital. His current condition has not been disclosed.

No officers were injured during the incident. Chief Lara stated the man’s family has been contacted and that the investigation is ongoing
