Man fatally stabbed by stepfather in northeast Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A man was fatally stabbed by his stepfather during a domestic disturbance in northeast Houston early Sunday morning. Two Houston Police Department officers were also injured in a separate crash while responding to the scene.

The stabbing occurred around midnight in the 7300 block of Bigwood. According to police, officers arrived to find a man in his late 30s with multiple stab wounds to the chest. The suspect, identified as the victim’s stepfather, a man in his mid-50s, was still at the location when officers arrived.

Preliminary information suggests the incident began as a disturbance between family members. The two were briefly separated before re-engaging in a confrontation, during which the stabbing occurred.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

While responding to the scene to assist, two HPD officers were involved in a major crash in the 6700 block of Homestead. Their patrol vehicle caught fire following the collision. A wrecker driver who arrived quickly helped both officers escape the burning vehicle and brought them to safety.

Both officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a hospital. They are not in critical condition.

The Houston Police Department Homicide Division is investigating the stabbing, and the Vehicular Crimes Division is handling the crash investigation.
