LOS ANGELES, CA – Shoppers and collectors are being cautioned after fake Labubu dolls—nicknamed “Lafufu” by fans—were spotted for sale by street vendors on Hollywood Boulevard.

The counterfeit figures closely resemble the original Labubu collectibles designed by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung and distributed through Pop Mart, but lack proper branding, packaging, and serial identifiers. Vendors are reportedly selling them near popular tourist sites, including the Dolby Theatre and El Capitan.
The term “Lafufu” has emerged among fans as a tongue-in-cheek nickname for the knockoff versions, which are often sold at prices significantly below the market rate for authentic figures.
Collectors are urged to verify authenticity by checking for:
Official Pop Mart packaging and logos Product tags with serial numbers or holographic seals Blind-box series details with corresponding QR codes
Due to the popularity and resale value of Labubu dolls, counterfeits have become increasingly common in public marketplaces. Authorities recommend purchasing only from authorized retailers or directly from the Pop Mart website.
Anyone who suspects they’ve purchased a counterfeit item may report it to the Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs.
