HOUSTON, TX – A two-alarm warehouse fire fueled by tires broke out around midnight behind Rug Mart Houston, located at 5910 Southwest Freeway.
The Houston Fire Department said the exit from the Southwest Freeway southbound at Fountain View will remain closed most of the day as crews continue to monitor the site. HAZMAT teams are checking water runoff and air quality, and no environmental concerns have been reported at this time.
Firefighters battled the blaze defensively from outside the structure, and the fire was still producing smoke at 6 a.m. The HFD Arson Bureau will work to determine the cause of the fire.
The response was under the command of District 28.
No injuries or patient transports have been reported. The HFD Arson Bureau will investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
