Bomb threat prompts evacuation at MSU-Billings campus

BILLINGS, MT – Billings Police Department responded to a bomb threat at the Montana State University-Billings campus on September 12, 2025.

According to police, the threat was made against McMullen Hall. University Police and BPD units evacuated the building and conducted a search.

Investigators determined the caller was a local Billings resident with a history of mental health issues. Officers located the individual at their residence and found them experiencing a mental health crisis.

The caller was transported for a psychiatric evaluation without incident. Police say there is no further threat to the public at this time.
