WILMINGTON, DE – Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred following a vehicle pursuit that began on Interstate 95 and ended in a single-vehicle collision.

According to police, the incident began around 1:16 a.m. on September 16, when officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle whose driver was known to be wanted for various offenses. As officers approached, the driver fled at a high rate of speed, exiting onto Marsh Road and continuing to the area of Marsh Road and Edgemoor Road, where the vehicle left the roadway and crashed.
The vehicle was occupied by four individuals. A four-month-old male, who was not restrained, was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Maurice Brown, Jr.
The driver, a 33-year-old male, was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A 32-year-old female and a 10-year-old female were also taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Criminal charges against the driver related to the pursuit and the death of the child are pending.
