CHAMBERSBURG, PA – A driver has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian at the intersection of West Washington Street and Water Street on October 7, 2025.
According to Chambersburg Police, Carol Ferry was struck by a van while crossing in the crosswalk at approximately 7:04 p.m. The driver initially stopped but then fled the scene without rendering aid or providing required information. Ferry did not survive her injuries.
The driver was later identified as Jorge Santamaria. On October 9, 2025, Santamaria was arrested and charged with Accidents Involving Death or Personal Injury, Accidents Involving Death or Injury While Not Licensed, and Driving Under Suspension – DUI Related.
He was arraigned by MDJ Manns and committed to the Franklin County Jail after failing to post bail.
