HOUSTON, TX – A 20-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly robbing Houston Texans player Jaylen Reed at gunpoint, stealing his vehicle, and leading officers on a pursuit that ended with three Houston Police Department officers injured in a crash.
Court records filed in Harris County District Court identify the suspect as Montreal Dwayne Frye. He is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (Cause No. 194692301010003) and evading arrest in a vehicle (Cause No. 194692201010003), both offenses occurring on January 4, 2026.
According to prosecutors, Frye and two accomplices, dressed in black and wearing ski masks, entered Reed’s garage armed with long rifles. The suspects demanded Reed’s belongings and fled with his vehicle. Officers from HPD Southeast Patrol, with assistance from DPS Air Support and K-9 units, later located the vehicle and initiated a pursuit through north Houston.
The chase ended near Rushcreek Drive and Ella Boulevard in the Greenspoint area when two HPD patrol units collided. One patrol vehicle rear-ended the other, briefly catching fire. Three officers sustained minor injuries but declined medical transport.
Frye was apprehended at the scene. Court filings reveal that Frye is currently serving a three-year deferred adjudication probation sentence for a prior felony evading arrest case (Cause No. 189334601010), which occurred in November 2024.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has requested that the court impose sufficient and non-oppressive bail, citing public safety and the targeted nature of the crime against a well-known public figure. Bond was set at $500,000 in each case.
