UNION CITY, CA – The Union City Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision that occurred at the intersection of Decoto Road and Royal Ann Drive. According to police, officers responded around 6:26 a.m. and found a 55-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck while crossing Decoto Road. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drug impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash. Police responded around 6:19 p.m. to reports of gunfire following an altercation between a group of people on the street. According to investigators, surveillance footage and witness statements identified the suspected shooter as 44-year-old Ernest Portlock, who allegedly fired a handgun into a residence before fleeing in a white Honda SUV driven by 41-year-old Lanika Connors. SIMI VALLEY, CA – A man was critically injured after his electric bike collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Sequoia Avenue and Darby Street. The crash occurred around 12:08 p.m. on October 25, 2025. According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the rider, identified as 84-year-old Janes Nownes, was transported to Los Robles Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Preliminary findings indicate that Nownes swerved into the path of a northbound vehicle on Sequoia Avenue, striking the side of the car and being thrown from the e-bike. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the 14000 block of Osage Road on October 23, 2025, at approximately 7:07 a.m. following reports of a shooting. The suspect, identified as Todd Johnson, was reportedly trying to forcibly enter the residence when an occupant shot him. According to the Victorville Police Department, the man was driving a Mazda CX-5 eastbound on D Street when he struck a stopped vehicle at Seventh Street. The incident occurred around 4:48 p.m. on October 19, 2025, near Kiowa Road north of Mayan Road.
