74-year-old woman identified in fatal Lockport-Olcott Road crash

NEWFANE, NY – The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman killed in a motor vehicle crash on Lockport-Olcott Road as 74-year-old Adele M. Sullivan of Lockport. The crash occurred at approximately 7:13 p.m. on October 16, 2025, in the Town of Newfane. Sullivan was operating a southbound 2014 Chevrolet at the time of the incident. The investigation into the crash has been concluded.

RICHMOND, VA – The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit has upheld a nearly $811 million judgment against Nexus Services, Inc., its subsidiary Libre by Nexus, and three of its executives for operating a fraudulent scheme targeting detained immigrants. According to court records, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), joined by the attorneys general of Massachusetts, New York, and Virginia, filed a 17-count civil enforcement action against the defendants in 2021. The case centered on claims that Nexus and Libre by Nexus misled immigrant detainees into believing they were purchasing full-service bond assistance when, in fact, they were subjected to exploitative fees and deceptive contract terms. MADEIRA BEACH, FL – A New York man has been arrested following a jet ski crash that left two children injured, one critically, on October 12, 2025, near Johns Pass in Madeira Beach, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say 48-year-old Daniel Patrick Grubert, of Piermont, New York, was operating a rented 2024 Yamaha WaveRunner when he took his eyes off his direction of travel while racing another jet ski. Two killed in head-on collision on Kings Highway in Saugerties

ULSTER COUNTY, NY – Two people were killed in a head-on crash early in the morning on Kings Highway near Sinsapaugh Lane, according to the Saugerties Police Department. At approximately 5:27 a.m., officers responded to the scene and located two heavily damaged vehicles in the northbound lane. A 2023 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 65-year-old man from Waterbury, Connecticut, was traveling southbound when it crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2022 Ford F-150 operated by a 19-year-old male from Lake Katrine.
