HOUSTON — Three women were injured in a shooting Tuesday night outside the Sunny Side Food Store in southeast Houston's Sunnyside area, according to the Houston Police Department. Officers responded around 10:40 p.m. to the store in the 9100 block of Scott Street after reports of gunfire. Investigators said two women, both in their mid-30s, were standing in the parking lot when they were each struck once in the arm. A third woman, in her mid-40s, was inside a vehicle leaving the store when she was hit in the hand. She drove away before stopping in the 1200 block of Vera Lou Street, where officers located her. According to police, investigators believe the Hyundai Sonata crossed the center line and struck the GMC pickup head-on. HOUSTON — A man was killed early Sunday morning after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a parked 18-wheeler and caught fire on Dorsett in northeast Houston. According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred around 3:32 a.m. on Dorsett near Pillot Street. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Dorsett when it struck a parked 18-wheeler. After the collision, the vehicle traveled into a grassy area next to a fence, where it caught fire. According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched around 11:45 p.m. to the 3200 block of Center Street after receiving a report of a possible fire.
