Driver critically injured after vehicle goes airborne, crashes into another vehicle on East Freeway

HOUSTON — A driver was critically injured after a vehicle reportedly went airborne and crashed into another vehicle on the East Freeway early Sunday morning. According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred around 2:17 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 between the Waco and Lockwood exits. Witnesses reported a blue Ford Explorer was traveling on the frontage road at a high rate of speed when it lost control, went airborne over an embankment and landed on the eastbound freeway. The Explorer then crashed into another vehicle occupied by four people. Two occupants of the struck vehicle were transported to a hospital and were reported in stable condition. Woman Killed in Crash on Eastex Freeway Frontage Road, Investigation Underway

HOUSTON — A woman was killed in a crash on the Eastex Freeway frontage road just before 9 p.m. According to the Houston Police Department, preliminary information indicates the crash occurred when a vehicle was exiting the main lanes of the Eastex Freeway onto the frontage road and collided with the victim, who was in a moving lane of traffic. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said there were no signs of intoxication at the scene. The deceased is believed to be a female. Her identity has not yet been confirmed, and the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office is working to identify her and notify next of kin. HOUSTON — Firefighters responded to the Harris County Sheriff's Office 701 Detention Center early Saturday morning after a water leak caused a short circuit and activated the facility's fire alarm system. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. when water leaked onto two electrical panel boxes, causing a small electrical panel short circuit. The Houston Fire Department responded to the detention center. Authorities said no inmates or staff members were injured. The sheriff's office also confirmed that all inmates and staff were accounted for following the incident. KATY, Texas — A 76-year-old woman died after a Tesla crashed into her home Friday evening in the 21300 block of Rose Hollow Lane, according to investigators. The Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office, Community Fire Department and Harris County ESD 48 responded to the crash at about 8 p.m. Investigators said a Tesla failed to turn right at the intersection of Blooming Park and Rose Hollow and was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed directly into the residence. KATY, Texas — A man was shot and killed after a fight broke out during a large gathering in the Katy area early Sunday morning, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were dispatched around 12:15 a.m. to the 24600 block of Sandal Springs in reference to a fight disturbance. While the caller was still on the line with 911, shots were reported outside the home where the party was taking place. When deputies arrived, they found an approximately 45-year-old Black male deceased at the scene.
