HOUSTON, TX – A multi-vehicle crash occurred around 12:14 a.m. in the 17100 block of the Eastex Freeway, involving a black sedan, a pickup truck, and an 18-wheeler. https://youtu.be/sSpnXtnJJWo The black sedan was reportedly traveling northbound at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic before striking the pickup truck. The impact caused the pickup to collide with an 18-wheeler and then a utility pole. The driver of the black sedan was transported to the hospital in critical condition and remains in critical condition as of the last update. HOUSTON, TX – A Houston Police officer was injured during a traffic stop early this morning when a passing vehicle struck the officer’s patrol car. https://youtu.be/Isw0mEkCRXM The incident occurred around 1:19 a.m. in the 600 block of Maxey Road. The officer was detaining the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle when another vehicle approached on the shoulder without slowing down and struck the rear door of the patrol car. The officer dove into the vehicle to avoid a direct hit but was struck in the leg. The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. HOUSTON, TX – A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the North Loop West early this morning. https://youtu.be/_xwFrCE6OIg The incident occurred around 1:34 a.m. at the intersection of North Loop West and North Main. The westbound driver initially believed they had struck an unknown object. When police arrived, they discovered the object was a deceased male pedestrian. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, remained at the scene and showed no signs of intoxication during evaluation. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been confirmed but he is believed to possibly be a Hispanic male. Houston Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and encountered heavy flames coming from two floors, with fire visible from both the front and side of the unit. A fast attack was initiated, and a primary search revealed no occupants. After the fire was brought under control, residents informed firefighters that someone who lived in the unit was unaccounted for. A 21-year-old female had been shot in the leg, and a 19-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to his foot. Both victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
