Triple shooting on Richmond in southwest Houston leaves one woman dead

According to Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin of the Houston Police Department, at about 2:39 a.m. officers responded to a call in the 5500 block of Richmond Avenue, near Chimney Rock in southwest Houston.

When officers arrived, about two minutes later they found a vehicle facing westbound that appeared to have been struck several times by gunfire Inside the vehicle, there were two women that had also been struck by gunfire. One of these women, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other woman, a passenger of the same vehicle was also struck by gunfire and was taken to a local hospital.

A third victim, a man who was located nearby was also struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital.

At this time, police do not have a motive or any suspects in regard to the shooting that took place on Richmond Ave. The investigation is still in its early stages and investigators with the Houston Police Department are working to determine what led up to the shooting and who may be responsible. Several witnesses did stay behind and will be talking to investigators about what happened.

Assistant Chief Martin hopes that additional information will become available from those who may know anything about the incident, including suspects or a motive. Assistant Chief Martin asks that if anyone has any information to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division as soon as possible.
