Teenager Killed at High School After Prom Party in Harris County

Update: According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the 16-year-old male who was fatally shot at a high school graduation party in the 8500 block of Majesticbrook Drive has been identified as Isaac Zetino. Zetino was attending an after-prom party and not a graduation party as originally reported.  He did not live there.

Investigators have now determined that Zetino and another juvenile male were involved in a disturbance with the father of a female who was attending the party. During this altercation, both parties produced handguns and exchanged gunfire. Zetino was fatally wounded in the exchange.

Authorities located the adult male who was involved in the shooting and exchanged gunfire with Zetino and the second juvenile. The individual cooperated with investigators and provided a statement that claimed he had acted in self-defense when he fired his weapon. This statement was corroborated by findings at the scene.

At this time, no charges have been filed against any of the parties involved. The case remains under investigation, and upon its conclusion, it will be presented to a grand jury for possible charges.

May 6, 2023 – A tragic incident occurred early this morning in Harris County as a 16-year-old Hispanic male was found dead from gunshot wounds at a high school graduation party. The shooting took place at around 1:30 a.m. in the 8500 block of Majesticbrook Drive.

Sergeant Jason Brown from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Homicide Division, stated that there was a large party with many juveniles in attendance, primarily high school students celebrating their graduation. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was attending the party as a friend of the girl residing at the house.

Preliminary investigations indicate that an altercation occurred in front of the residence, which led to the fatal shooting. The shooter is believed to be someone who was not attending the party and arrived at the location, engaging in the disturbance that resulted in the victim’s death.

Currently, no suspects or vehicle descriptions have been identified. Law enforcement officers are interviewing approximately 15 witnesses who remained at the scene, while many others fled before the authorities arrived. It is estimated that up to 100 people may have been present at the party.

Investigators are reviewing video surveillance footage to gather more information about the incident. The victim’s high school has not yet been identified, as there are several schools in the local area within the Cy-Fair School District.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about the shooting or potential suspects to come forward and assist in their ongoing investigation.
