Driver flees the scene of a deadly crash with half a body in the vehicle, then stops and calls 911

Houston, TX, May 14, 2023 – A tragic accident on Grand Parkway South led to the death of pedestrian Wayne Hall on Saturday night, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). The accident occurred when Hall, who was walking in the road and not at a crosswalk, failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle.

The incident took place around 11:42 pm on May 13, 2023, in the 100 block of Grand Parkway South, a public roadway in Houston. Denis Kravchenko was operating a white 2016 BMW southbound in the number two traffic lane when the incident occurred.

Upon collision, the impact propelled Hall into the BMW’s windshield, leaving his torso and legs in the roadway while his upper body came to rest inside the vehicle on the front passenger floorboard. Despite the severity of the accident, Kravchenko continued to the 24000 block of Bella Dolce Lane before stopping and calling 911 about 7 blocks from scene where original accident occurred.

Emergency services ESD48, Medic 6, arrived on the scene to find Mr. Hall with no signs of life. Kravchenko, who remained on the scene, cooperated fully with the investigation and showed no signs of impairment.

The case remains open and is currently under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division. The authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward to aid in their investigation.
