Suspect Charged in Secondary Crash on Katy Freeway

HOUSTON, TX – A suspect has been charged in connection with a secondary crash that resulted in a fatality on the 8000 block of Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) around 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, December 16.

Asya Marshall, 32, is now facing intoxicated assault charges in the 177th State District Court. The crash claimed the life of a 31-year-old male, whose identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The incident occurred when a gray Dodge Ram tow truck, assisting in a minor collision between a Chevrolet Equinox and a Mercedes A220, was struck from behind by a gray Jeep Wrangler driven by Marshall. The Jeep subsequently collided with the Mercedes and fatally injured the driver of the Equinox.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, transporting the victim to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, December 17. Marshall was detained at the scene of the crash and was later charged after being found intoxicated.
