Two deceased after fatal crash on Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON, Texas – Houston Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that took place at 9000 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) at approximately 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, January 21.

The crash resulted in the deaths of two individuals, a 22-year-old male and a 23-year-old female. The identities of the deceased are awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The incident involved a white Volkswagen Jetta and a gray Honda Civic. The Jetta, driven by the 23-year-old female, collided with the Civic, which was stationary in a main lane of traffic. The collision caused the female driver to be ejected from the Jetta, and a male passenger from the Honda, who was outside the vehicle at the time, was struck. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 22-year-old female driver of the Honda was unharmed, showed no signs of intoxication, and was subsequently released following questioning.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
