Fourth Suspect Sought in Capital Murder of Steven Santillan

CLEVELAND, TEXAS, February 2, 2024 – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Splendora Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, is investigating a homicide that occurred on Morgan Cemetery Road in Cleveland, Texas, on January 25, 2024. At approximately 3:20 a.m., deputies and officers responded to a 911 call from a woman reporting that three masked males forcibly entered her home, shooting her husband multiple times before fleeing. The victim was identified as 37-year-old Steven Santillan of Montgomery County, Texas.

Shortly after the incident, Splendora Police Officers spotted a vehicle with three males matching the description and initiated a pursuit that ended in a crash at U.S. 59 and Fostoria Road. Two suspects fled the vehicle but were quickly apprehended following a brief foot chase. All three individuals, identified as Andre Franklin, 26, Derrick Wilson, 27, and Jose Gutierrez, 23, all from Houston, have been charged with Capital Murder. They have extensive criminal records for violent offenses in Harris County.

In a subsequent development, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announced the identification of a fourth suspect, Anthony Lawrence Green, who is now wanted with an active warrant for Capital Murder in connection to Steven Santillan’s death. Green is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is urged not to approach him but to contact law enforcement with any information regarding his whereabouts.

The investigation into the motives behind this tragic incident continues, with multiple law enforcement divisions involved, including the Homicide and Violent Crimes Division, Crime Scene Investigators, and the Gang Investigations Unit, among others. The community has been asked to assist in locating Green to bring further justice in this case.
