HOUSTON, TX – A Houston Police officer was injured during a traffic stop early this morning when a passing vehicle struck the officer’s patrol car.
The incident occurred around 1:19 a.m. in the 600 block of Maxey Road.
The officer was detaining the driver of a suspected stolen vehicle when another vehicle approached on the shoulder without slowing down and struck the rear door of the patrol car. The officer dove into the vehicle to avoid a direct hit but was struck in the leg.
The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for evaluation. He is reported to be in stable condition.
The driver of the striking vehicle is under investigation for possible impairment.
