HARRIS COUNTY, TX – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred just before 2 a.m. in the 2600 block of Basil Point Court in North Harris County.
Harris County Precinct 1 deputies responded to a disturbance involving a suspect reportedly drinking and firing a weapon into the air. Deputies received consent from the homeowner and entered the residence to locate the suspect, identified as a 47-year-old Hispanic male and the husband of the 911 caller.
Deputies observed the suspect on the back porch through a window. When they opened the back door, the suspect allegedly pointed a gun at deputies and possibly fired. Two deputies returned fire, striking the suspect in the abdomen.
The suspect fled the scene by jumping a fence and reaching a nearby residence, where he was detained and treated. He was transported to a hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Two deputies discharged their firearms. No officers were injured during the incident.
The suspect has been charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer. His wife and their 21-year-old daughter were inside the home during the incident but were unharmed and cooperative.
