Bomb threat causes evacuation at Deerbrook Mall

HUMBLE, TX – A bomb threat caused a major disruption at Deerbrook Mall Sunday afternoon, prompting a full evacuation and multi-agency response.

Around 4 p.m., a younger Hispanic male entered the Barnes & Noble store located at the mall and shouted that he had a bomb before proceeding further inside the building.

As a precaution, the mall was evacuated. Explosive detection K9 units from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Harris County, and Montgomery County were brought in to sweep the premises.

All clear was given after a thorough search of the mall concluded around 7:30 p.m., with no explosive devices found. Humble Police Chief Zientek stated the threat is being taken seriously and the suspect will likely face a terroristic threat charge once found.
