FRISCO, TX – A 31-year-old man was fatally shot by Frisco Police officers during a welfare check after he reportedly advanced toward them with a knife.

The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. on September 18, 2025, in the 8000 block of McKinney Road. Officers responded to a report that a man, later identified as Logan Holliday of Frisco, was armed with a knife and had already harmed himself.
Officers located Holliday in a wooded area on the north side of Frisco Commons Park. According to police, Holliday ignored verbal commands and continued advancing toward officers with the knife in hand. Officers deployed a less lethal option, but when it failed to stop him, they discharged their duty weapons.
Officers administered lifesaving measures on scene. Holliday was transported by Frisco Fire Medics to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Texas Rangers are leading the ongoing investigation, in accordance with department policy related to critical incidents. No additional updates have been provided at this time.
