Suspect shot by homeowner during attempted vehicle burglary in northeast Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A homeowner shot one suspect during an attempted vehicle burglary in northeast Houston.

The shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. earlier today in the 8200 block of Woodlyn. Officers with the Northeast Division responded to a shooting in progress call.

According to police, the homeowner was inside his home when he saw two suspects trying to break into his vehicle. He walked outside and fired in the direction of the suspects, striking one of them.

The injured suspect was transported by the Houston Fire Department to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. The second suspect was not struck.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted charges against the suspects for burglary of a motor vehicle. No charges were filed against the homeowner, who was determined to be protecting his property.
