AUSTIN, TX – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue, accusing the companies of deceptively marketing Tylenol to pregnant mothers despite knowing of links between prenatal acetaminophen exposure and an increased risk of autism and ADHD in children.

According to the complaint, the companies violated Texas consumer protection laws by promoting Tylenol as safe for pregnant women while ignoring scientific evidence to the contrary. The suit also alleges Johnson & Johnson violated the Texas Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act by transferring Tylenol-related liabilities to Kenvue in an effort to shield assets from future claims.
Attorney General Paxton said the companies “betrayed America by profiting off of pain and pushing pills regardless of the risks,” adding that Johnson & Johnson “attempted to escape responsibility by illegally offloading their liability onto a different company.”
Paxton has previously taken legal action against several pharmaceutical firms, including Pfizer and Eli Lilly, and secured a $700 million settlement from Johnson & Johnson over misleading claims about its talc-based baby powder products.
