HOUSTON, TX – According to Assistant Chief Luis Menendez-Sierra with the Houston Police Department, an officer-involved shooting occurred at the Ace Cash Express at 203 West Greens after a hold-up panic alarm was activated.
At approximately 8:33 a.m., North Belt Patrol officers responded to the alarm. An officer arrived within minutes and saw a male suspect holding a female employee at gunpoint and using her as a shield as he exited the business. The officer, a six-year veteran of HPD, responded to the threat of the suspect and fired multiple times, striking him.
Officers provided first aid before the suspect was transported to a hospital, where he is in stable condition. He is described as a Black male between 25 and 30 years old. No injuries were reported to the employee or to officers.
Police said the shooting occurred outside the business. The District Attorney’s Office, homicide division, and internal affairs are conducting concurrent investigations.
