HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating a fatal collision in the 4400 block of El Dorado Boulevard that occurred around 5:25 p.m. on December 3 in the Clear Lake area.
Police stated a black Ford F-250 pulling a trailer was traveling eastbound when a gray Ford Focus traveling northbound on Hickory Knoll Drive failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. The F-250 struck the Focus, pushing both vehicles into westbound lanes, where the truck then struck a white Acura MDX. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the 42-year-old male driver of the Focus deceased at the scene. The 29-year-old female driver of the F-250 was transported by private vehicle for non-life-threatening injuries. The 42-year-old female driver of the Acura was not injured.
One resident reached out saying they were involved in a severe crash at the same intersection in June of this year. They stated the Middlebrook subdivision sign creates a significant blind spot and contacted the Middlebrook HOA on June 27 to warn that someone could be seriously hurt or killed if the issue was not addressed. The resident added that a case study conducted about 10 years ago resulted in a painted line at the stop sign, which they believe worsened visibility.
Another neighbor stated the intersection has long been problematic and that subdivision signage was recently replaced following a previous crash.
