HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A mother shot a man during a confrontation that followed an earlier fight between a group of teenagers, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
This happened at the Altanova Apartment complex located at 15414 Kuykendahl in north Harris County.
Deputies were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. after reports of a shooting. Investigators said the original incident started two hours earlier, around 6:30 p.m., when several juveniles got into a physical fight. One of the teens’ mothers stepped in at that time to break it up.
Later, a different mother came back to the scene to talk about what happened. During that conversation, a man in his early 20s showed up and started causing a disturbance. Fearing for her son’s safety, the first mother pulled out a gun and fired several times, hitting the man once.
He was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition. Investigators said he may have been under the influence of some narcotics, but that has not been confirmed.
The mother stayed at the scene and is being questioned. No one has been arrested yet, and detectives are still trying to figure out if the shooting was in self-defense.
This is a developing story and more information will follow if it becomes available.
