Security guard fatally shot during attempted disarming outside Connie’s Seafood in east Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A security guard was fatally shot outside Connie’s Seafood restaurant after a suspect attempted to disarm him during a confrontation Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the 300 block of South 69th Street. Eastside Patrol officers responded and found an adult male with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation revealed the victim was on duty when he was approached by a suspect described only as a white or Hispanic male. The suspect placed a gun to the victim’s back and attempted to disarm him. A physical altercation followed, during which the suspect fired his weapon, striking the guard.

The suspect then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
